On 18 November 2013 severe weather related to the cyclone "Cleopatra" brought heavy rain and caused tremendous floods in Sardinia. According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on 19 November 2013, 17 people died, many villages were isolated. Flights and ferry connections were delayed or cancelled, train connections were disrupted.

The flooding case was analysed with the DLR tool Cb-TRAM (Cumulonimbus Tracking and Monitoring) which detects and forecasts thunderstorms up to one hour. The analysis clearly shows that the heavy rain event was accompanied by embedded thunderstorms. It has been posted on the interactive Cb-TRAM DRIHM web application for citizen scientists accessible via http://extern04.pa.op.dlr.de/ or the DRIHM portal. With this web application, the user can produce and download his own Cb-TRAM graphics, as well as xml- and kml-output for further use.
