The DRIHM consortium, has started in September 2012 a fruitful cooperation with the Secondary School of the Mele Municipality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mele) in the Genoa Province. Mele is located on the Ligurian Apennines, about 21 km west of Genoa, and it has a population of about 2500 inhabitants.
The Mele Secondary School has a well-established experience in the usage of state-of-the-art IT supports, as interactive multimedia whiteboard and tablets to support and enhance learning of the students: then it represents a very well-suited candidate for the cooperation with the DRIHM activities.
Along these lines it has been agreed to formulate an innovative training programme on hydrometeorology and ICT under the umbrella of the DRIHM project, aiming at improving the understanding of young students about severe hydro-meteorological phenomena, tools for observing them (http://my.meteonetwork.it/station/lig050/index.php), and finally Civil Protection measures to mitigate their impact.
