DRIHM booth at ICRI2014 Conference (http://www.icri2014.eu/, 2-4 april 2014)

The underlying premise of the DRIHM project is that understanding and predicting the environmental and human impact of draughts, floods, landslides and other severe hydro-meteorologal events requires a holistic approach. Numerous physical, chemical and biological simulations and datasets describing different aspects of climate change, infrastructure development or land use need to be combined in a way that takes into account different interactions and feedback loops between the subsystems. DRIHM provides such an integrated environmental modeling solution, merging collections of [several/tens of] models and [numerous/hundreds of] data sources into a simulation workflow toolkit.
Successful solution depends on easy access to models and data, interoperability (based on recognized standards) and successful collaborations among numerous scientific disciplines and ICT specialties. Bridging the gap between specific modeling chain requirements and available tools is possibly only if all of these areas are addressed.
The proposed booth will use the results, demos and videos produced by DRIHM project and some of its associated initiatives as a way to present a vision of an integrated earth modeling and data system, combining top-level computing and data resources to address a broad range of challenges related to environment, economics and different aspects of societal security. A survey will be conducted to collect comments and ideas about future activities, both ones related to broader use of DRIHM solution, as well as ones generalising the approach used in developing it.
